With a Special Guest Speaker Jessica Porte
Topic: Secondary, Nonfinite, and Ambiguous Losses
Secondary losses stem from the ripple effects of a primary loss, such as the disruption of routines following a death. Nonfinite losses persist indefinitely, evident, for instance, in the perpetual grief for a chronically ill child. Ambiguous losses entail situations where clarity is missing, such as with a loved one who’s physically present but mentally absent due to dementia. These nuances underscore the multifaceted nature of grief beyond immediate losses.
